Job Summary:The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the strategic planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies across the organization. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing practices, efficient inventory control, and optimal supply chain management to support operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement materials management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
Oversee the procurement process, including vendor management, contract negotiations, and purchase order management.
Oversee and manage all production scheduling activities and personnel
Oversee and manage all shipping related activities and personnel
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and organizational policies.
Collaborate with departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
Optimize inventory management systems and maintain accurate records of materials transactions.
Lead and mentor a team of materials management professionals, providing guidance and development opportunities.
Implement cost-saving initiatives through supplier partnerships and process improvements.
Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring financial goals are met.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain management, or procurement leadership.
Strong understanding of supply chain processes, inventory management, and procurement best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and supply chain management software.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or equivalent).
