Director of Material Management

Job Summary: The Director of Materials Management is responsible for the strategic planning, procurement, storage, and distribution of materials and supplies across the organization. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing practices, efficient inventory control, and optimal supply chain management to support operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement materials management strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the procurement process, including vendor management, contract negotiations, and purchase order management.
  • Oversee and manage all production scheduling activities and personnel
  • Oversee and manage all shipping related activities and personnel
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
  • Optimize inventory management systems and maintain accurate records of materials transactions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of materials management professionals, providing guidance and development opportunities.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives through supplier partnerships and process improvements.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring financial goals are met.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in materials management, supply chain management, or procurement leadership.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, inventory management, and procurement best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and supply chain management software.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or equivalent).
  • Master's degree in related field
