Summer Engineering Intern *TEMPORARY POSITION*

Hillsboro Industries is seeking a Summer Engineering Intern to support our Newton, KS or Hillsboro, KS Manufacturing facility during the summer months. This temporary, entry-level position is designed for students who are interested in engineering, manufacturing, and hands-on learning in a fast-paced production environment.

This opportunity is open to high school and college students, with preference given to Mechanical Engineering students. Students with drafting, CAD, or modeling experience are especially encouraged to apply. 

What you'll do:

  • Assist engineers and production teams with basic manufacturing and engineering tasks

  • Support simple process improvement and organization projects

  • Help create or update drawings, layouts, and documentation

  • Collect measurements and production information as directed

  • Observe and learn how manufacturing equipment and processes operate

  • Follow safety guidelines and assist with general shop or facility tasks as needed

Who we're looking for:

  • Current high school or college student seeking a career in engineering

  • Willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment

  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely

  • Basic computer skills

  • Experience doing drafting/modeling (Autodesk Inventor experience preferred

Preferred (not required)

  • Mechanical Engineering major or intent to pursue engineering

  • Prior shop, manufacturing, or technical coursework

Internship Details

  • Duration: Summer 2026 (May-August, adjusted as schedule allows)

  • Schedule: Full-Time (8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday - Friday)

  • This position can be located in our Hillsboro, KS or Newton, KS facility

  • This is a temporary, paid internship for the Summer. Company benefits are not applicable for this role.
